Wincor Nixdorf Partnership

Wincor Nixdorf and Innovative Technology announce partnership to provide entry solutions for automated cash handling at the Point-of-Sale

 

Wincor Nixdorf and Innovative Technology announced a joint partnership across Europe to develop a number of entry cash handling solutions for the Retail Sector.  With a relationship dating back to 2013 the companies have signed a partnership agreement that will see them develop retail point of sale payment solutions.

By working in partnership we can offer unique, high quality point of sale solutions with a great customer value proposition. ECB unveils new €20 banknote

The European Central Bank today unveiled the new issue €20 banknote that will enter circulation Wednesday 25th November 2015.

As a manufacturer of cash handling equipment we will have access to the new €20 note in advance of its official release. We will add the new €20 into all applicable Euro datasets over the coming months and release new datasets in due course – providing operators with sufficient time to update all of their validators in the field before 25/11/15.

Speaking at the launch event ECB President, Mario Draghi said “Every central bank needs to upgrade its banknotes periodically to benefit from advances in banknote technology and to maintain their integrity. The new €20 note includes a feature which you won’t have seen before. It is called the “portrait window” and is a real innovation in banknote technology. It is the outcome of the Eurosystem’s work to ensure that the euro notes continue to be resilient against counterfeiting. This will reinforce the trust that the 338 million citizens across the euro area place in their banknotes.”

In total, there are now 17.5 billion euro banknotes in circulation; the total value of these banknotes reached €1,000 billion for the first time in December 2014. The new €20 note is the third denomination in the Europa series that is gradually replacing the original euro banknotes introduced in 2002. It will be followed, over time, by new versions of the €50, €100, €200 and €500 notes.

The new €20 notes will enter into circulation on 25 November this year. By the date of the launch, the Eurosystem will have printed more than 4.3 billion such banknotes.

ICE ICE Baby

Dayna Patterson, Marketing Executive, is responsible for planning ITL’s busy exhibition calendar. Here we get an insight into ICE from an exhibitors perspective.

 

ICE is our biggest exhibition of the year and colleagues from our international offices travel to London to man the stand and meet their customers. The week starts on Sunday for me with the journey south to Excel, London to meet the stand builders and begin the set up.

Monday, the final set up day is my favourite part of the exhibition. It is always a very long day and the exhibition hall is freezing, but it is great to see all of the planning take shape and the stand come to life ready for a busy week. It is amazing to see how the exhibition hall changes from a building site to the glamour of the ICE show on Tuesday morning.

While we are completing the final set up all of my colleagues arrive into London ready for the show. Before the show starts, we always arrange a team meal on the Monday night at a local pub near our hotel in Greenwich. It is great to have the opportunity to socialise with my UK and international colleagues before the exhibition gets underway.

Usually ICE starts slowly on Tuesday morning as visitors travel across London to the Excel Exhibition Centre, but this year from the word go the stand was busy with visitors eager to see our latest products.

There was a real buzz at the stand as we launched a brand new product, SMART Coin System. Prior to the show we created a simple demo program to enable the unit to pay out coins all day at the show to demonstrate the units’ potential. It was great to see the SMART Coin System in action, attracting so much attention. As well as the new product launch ICE 2015 saw us display printing products from our subsidiary InnoPrint for the first time, making the stand our largest ever in terms of product offerings.

By day 3 (Thursday) I think I speak for all exhibitors when I say you are glad the finish line is in sight! I never sleep properly in hotels and the show is always a tiring week with long days and nights out (although it is great to catch up with colleagues and industry friends that I don’t see very often.)

The journey back home to Manchester took 5 and a half hours on Friday because of the bad traffic. I was glad to be back home for a rest and to sleep in my own bed after a tiring week.

The SMART Coin System; a bulk coin validator, mixed coin hopper and recycler was greatly received at ICE and is set to revolutionise coin handling.

The unit validates, discriminates and stores mixed coins, eliminating coin starvation & the need for multiple hoppers. Boasting a market leading coin hopper capacity (1500 x €1) and fully audited efficient refills, the SMART Coin System is designed to eliminate coin starvation and significantly reduce operator collection costs. The SMART Coin System’s bulk coin feeder reduces operator refill time by around 80%; a typical 25 minute refill is reduced to just 5 minutes, dramatically reducing operator collection costs.
