EuroShop - The World’s No. 1 Retail Trade Fair drew to a close in Düsseldorf last week with a large number of international exhibitors and visitors discussing the key topics for 2020 including retail emotionalisation and digitalisation.

Thorsten Labusch, VP of Sales & Business Development RKB commented, “EuroShop takes place every three years and always provides ITL with a targeted and qualified audience. This show is on a much larger scale compared to EuroCIS and therefore attracted a higher number of visitors to the booth over the five days. This year it was also fantastic to see so many of our customers in the Technology Halls with ITL products on their stands. One product especially stood out - the SMART Coin System (SCS).”

Thorsten continued, “Customers were impressed with the SCS and its ability to quickly validate, store and recycle mixed coins.  This can help retailers eliminate coin starvation and significantly reduce collection costs. Visitors were keen to hear more about our Spectral Technology found in two of our key retail products – Spectral Payout and Spectral BNF.  The Spectral Payout boats superior mixed note denomination recycling and the Spectral BNF has a large deposit capacity for bulk note feeding so is ideal for large scale safe deposit applications.  Both incorporate Spectral Technology which has state of the art spectral sensors offering complete note image capture (highest spectral coverage) to authenticate the validity of notes and detect fraudulent, stained notes. “

Concluding Thorsten said, “Retailers were also very interested to hear more about how they can control underage purchases with ICU. This automated age verification device does not require pre-registration or human intervention and quickly and accurately predicts age to determine customers suitability to purchase.  Digitalising this process offers many advantages to the retailer such as ensuring compliance to avoid unwanted fines and prosecutions, speeding up age approvals, drastically reducing queues, faster throughput, increased revenue and overall improved customer experience. We look forward to following up with all the enquiries of interest we received from the show and have already started to put plans in place for EuroCIS 2021.”

Innovative Technology (ITL) reported a high volume of traffic to their stand over the three days at Excel London last week.  Their ICU device attracted much interest and visitors were impressed with how this can accurately verify age and manage self-exclusion and VIPs using facial recognition. Their Spectral Technology was also a hit especially the stained note detection feature which rejects the acceptance of stolen notes.

Marcus Tiedt, Sales Director commented, “ICE was a great success for us this year with a busy stand for the duration of the show.  Operators and manufacturers keen to support responsible gambling to ensure player protection were eager to demo ICU on the stand.  The team showed them how ICU can help with implementing important social responsibility policies. ICU Age Verification can ensure compliance to prevent underage gambling and safeguard children, while ICU Facial Recognition can allow Operators to identify VIPs and those who have willingly self-excluded or have been excluded.”

Marcus continued, “Our stained note detection feature found in ITL’s Spectral Technology also attracted strong interest. Gaming machines are just one example of where criminals try to launder stained or fraudulent banknotes by depositing dye-stained notes into machines. This can pose a threat to Operators if they do not have the latest technology installed to combat this.  Spectral Technology includes state of the art spectral sensors offer complete note image capture (highest spectral coverage) scanning millions of datapoints to authenticate the validity of notes and give the highest level of stained note detection.”

Concluding Marcus said, “ICE always provides us with an excellent platform for customer feedback and networking and this year was no exception. We look forward to working with our customer to provide them with the ability to automate transactions and manage payments and identification in the most cost effective, secure and business efficient way.”

ITL will be showcasing their Spectral Technology at EuroShop on 16-20 February 2020 at Messe Düsseldorf, Germany on booth 6A51.  EuroShop is the world’s largest trade fair for retail investment requirements with over 500 international exhibitors. The key theme for 2020 is “Retail Technology”.

Thorsten Labusch, VP of Sales & Business Development RKB commented, “This year we plan to extend our presence at EuroShop and show customers how to generate cash handling efficiencies in the Retail environment.”

“Our growing retail portfolio offers customers numerous advantages such as fast bulk note processing speeds, eliminating shrinkage, reducing overall operation costs and automating age checks to speed up queues at self-checkouts. Of course, security is always high on the agenda for the industry and with our Spectral Technology retailers have the highest level guaranteed.  Spectral Technology uses state-of-the-art spectral sensors to offer complete note image capture for exceptional protection against fraudulent and stained notes.”

Thorsten continued, “We will be previewing some new products in our Spectral range, designed specifically for the retail sector. New additions to the Spectral family include a mixed note recycler - Spectral Payout, Bunch Note Feeder (BNF) and a Safe Interface (SI) module. These add-ons are designed to improve cash handling efficiencies, significantly improve back office operations and give retailers an enhanced level of security and ease of access for maintenance.”

Thorsten added, “Another retail technology available on the booth for customers to demo will be ICU. This automated age verification device helps retailers manage the sale of age restricted goods, ensuring compliance.  ICU does not require pre-registration or human intervention and quickly and accurately predicts age to determine customers suitability to purchase.  Retailers avoid unwanted fines and prosecutions as the chance of selling goods to underage customers is diminished. Speeding up age approvals also dramatically reduces queues resulting in faster throughput, increased revenue and improved customer experience.”

Concluding Thorsten said, “At the beginning of January myself and some of my retail colleagues attended NRF in the US and following a positive response towards our retail portfolio we look forward to showing EuroShop visitors how they can benefit from our retail offerings. Come to booth 6A51 to see our technology in action.”
