James Collins

Name: James Collins
Job Title: Year Placement – Embedded Software
Department: Development
Worked at ITL since: 2017

I joined Innovative Technology in July 2017 securing a placement in the Embedded Software Team within the Development Department. I just finished my third year at the University of Leeds studying Electrical & Electronic Engineering when ITL agreed my one-year placement.
I am working in the Embedded Software Department as an engineer and since I started I have been focused on writing parts of the firmware for an emulator project.  I hope to enhance my problem solving, algorithm design and C/C++ programming skills from this Year in Industry placement. I am enjoying working closely with engineers who have a great amount of technical knowledge and experience.

David Bellis MBE, a leading figure in the cash handling industry will celebrate his 80th birthday this week.

David’s personal career has been exciting and varied, as a key stakeholder in the coin industry, David’s ever-expanding knowledge of coins earned him the accolade of chairman of the Association’s Committee on coinage, reporting to BACTA and consulting closely with the Royal Mint. 1998 saw David honoured as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), for his significant achievements and outstanding services to businesses in the community.  In 2003, Oldham College announced a prestigious tribute and opened a new building named after David (The Bellis Building). As Oldham born, Oldham educated and always resident within the Borough, David has ‘carried the flag for Oldham’ in all of his activities – never more so than his contribution and involvement in Oldham’s wider business community.

An inventor and engineer, David produced his first cash handling solution back in 1964 and now more than fifty years on he is still going strong as Chairman of Innovative Technology, the leading cash-handling technology provider. From his humble beginnings designing his first coin payout machine in his leaky garage in Royton, to forming Coin Controls and then founding Innovative Technology after initially retiring, David has had a successful and lengthy career in the cash handling industry.  Innovative Technology has grown from strength to strength, celebrating 25 years in business in 2017 as a result of significant investment in research & development which has seen the organisation grow into a worldwide company with 10 office locations and a global network of over 25 Trading Partners. Its success has been noted in numerous awards including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100. David is highly regarded in the industry and is a great ambassador for his home town of Oldham and amongst the technology world.

All the staff at Innovative Technology and some of David’s close friends celebrated his 80th birthday in the office last week and he is also looking forward to marking this milestone birthday with some of his oldest industry colleagues at ICE in London.

Innovative Technology Ltd. (ITL), the leading cash handling equipment provider, will be exhibiting at ICE Totally Gaming 2018 on 6-8th February at ExCeL in London. The company will have their full cash handling and ticketing product range on display for visitors and industry peers at stand N1-430.
Enrique Jütten, VP of Sales & Business Development commented, “We are excited to be participating at ICE again this year. It’s undoubtedly the biggest event in the European gaming exhibition calendar and our presence is key to ensuring we stay at the forefront of the industry, helping to shape our product portfolio and strategy to meet the needs of this highly dynamic and fast changing industry. ICE is an excellent networking opportunity as it brings all the key industry players under one roof and provides us with the perfect platform to bring our product portfolio to both new and existing customers.”
The key products that ITL have got lined up to showcase at ICE 2018 are NV200 Spectral and their SMART product range in particular the SMART Coin System. They will also be unveiling some new next generation products at the show and are looking forward to receiving visitor feedback.
The NV200 Spectral, ITL’s flagship product, was launched at ICE 2017 and will again be centerstage on the stand. NV200 Spectral is the most technically advanced note validator in its class. The state of the art sensing technology offers complete note image capture (highest spectral coverage) to authenticate the validity of notes. The unit boasts 99%+ first time acceptance of new and street grade notes with a note to note processing time of 2 seconds.  It also delivers outstanding fraud protection by using optical and mechanical anti-strimming technology.
Marcus Tiedt, ITL Sales Director commented, “TITO is one of the current hot topics in the industry and we have seen a definite rise in ticketing enquiries over the last 12 months at Innovative Technology. TITO usage is continuing at a rapid pace due to increased convenience for both operators and customers. We have responded to this and are well positioned to meet these demands with the SMART Ticket, a NV200 banknote validator with printer combined which accepts notes and TITO tickets and can print tickets as well. The NV12 offers the same functions and benefits in a more compact space, but is based on our successful NV9 note validator.”
ITL will also be showcasing its successful SMART Coin System, a bulk coin feeder, validator, mixed coin hopper and recycler in one. It delivers various features and benefits for the market and dramatically reduces operating costs through efficient mixed denomination coin handling. The closed loop system provides full audit traceability to eliminate shrinkage.
